Typically, as the title implies, a diptych in which the trumpet and euphonium can prove itself as melodic and rhythmic instruments. In the Nocturne the dark atmosphere dominates. On a jazzy piano accompaniment the soloists meander almost improvisational through the night.

The second part comes from a completely different vessel. In this fast toccata the rhythmic drive is central. Both soloists are on their heels, chased by a pressing piano!
