In the higher degree, students who play a brass instrument often wear braces. This radical change in the teeth often means that it is harder to get the notes in the high register smoothly. That does not make the search for a suitable repertoire easy. Studies or working with a limited ambitus are often too easy (lower grade level), while more challenging work often appeals to the higher register.

"10 Studies for Beugelbekkies" is written as an answer to this problem. The book offers the student with braces challenging, varied, melodic, stylistic and rhythmic studies, adjusted according to the reach of the student. At different places the student can make the choice between a higher and lower melody line depending on the feasibility. These studies are of course also instructive for students without braces.

Each study is linked to specific preparatory exercises. These exercises highlight difficulties that the student can acquire step by step. In addition, each study receives an appropriate, often humorous title.
