PETER LEROY | GR5.5 | WINDBAND (OPT. CHOIR)|
“Welcome, we were already expecting you. You will soon be embarking on a fantastic adventure! You are about to know the answer to an age-old mystery. It's up to you to unravel this mystery. "
These are the first sentences from the book: The Secret, a treasure hunt published in 1982, by the American author Byron Preiss. He presents the reader with a quest for 12 treasures. At first glance, it is yet another fantasy story, but in this case it is pure reality ... Byron Preiss hid 12 treasure chests in the United States with a key in it. Each key corresponds to a safe in which a valuable jewel is stored.
The Secret, A Mythology for the modern World is the first part of a triptych for concert band with optional choir. Composer Peter Leroy was inspired in every part by 4 paintings and 4 verses from the book:
- The African Fairies
- Rusalka, the Russian Mermaid Water Nimph
- The Spirits of Persia
- Centaurs from Hellas
Orchestration: Symphonic windband, optional choir
Genre: Concert work
