Caleidoscope is a tribute to the versatile musician Dirk De Caluwé, who sadly passed away on 8 March 2020 after a short battle against cancer.

Dominic Reynders and Kristof Aerts were Dirk’s last master student before his retirment. In 2020, after Dirk’s passing away, they asked six composers to join forces and write a memorial composition for Dirk. This composition was entitled Caleidoscope (with a C as reference to De Caluwe) and was performed at their graduation concert. The composers who took up this task with love are: Steven Verhaert (Introduzione), Klaas Coulembier (Avanti, Avanti!), Jan Hadermann (Broken Chorale), Jan Van der Roost (Elegía del Recuerdo), Tom Hondeghem (Contrasting Layers) and Bart Picqueur (Ex cinere suo).

By arrangement with the composers and the publisher, all proceeds from the sale will go to Kom op tegen Kanker.
