PETER LEROY| GR2| FLEXI|
“Field of Diamonds” was composed on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Koninklijke Harmonie Kunst na Arbeid Veldegem conducted by Jos Vanbesien. The title unmistakably refers to the village of “Veldegem” and the diamond jubilee of this local harmony.
The premiere took place in theatre ‘De Steen’ on 12/01/2020 and was conducted by the composer himself. The piece was received very enthusiastically by the musicians, the board and the audience.
The village of Veldegem used to be considered as ‘the field of Zedelgem’, a barren place with marshes, land dunes and ponds. Throughout history, the reputation of the village has been upgraded. Today, Veldegem has a flourishing social and cultural life.
The composition starts off somewhat rashly and gradually evolves into a beautifully cut diamond full of brilliance diamond full of brilliance, fire and clarity.
