WALTER DEVOLDERE| GR4| PIANO|
Expansions" allows the pianist to discover color chords full of (unresolved) tension. These chords are not built up like traditional consonances (in third intervals) but are expanded to fourth harmony. Both hands are interacting; created between consonant (two sounding perfect fourths) and hard, more dissonant (tritone + perfect fourth) chords that entail a jazz feeling.
A persistent motive (obstinato) in the left hand (power bass) always provides momentum throughout the work.
