It is our unbelievable honor to welcome Shalan Alhamwy within our publishing house.
100 years after the dramatic events in our own region, violinist and composer Shalan, like our great and great grandparents, is on the run for war and violence in his country.
Shalan Alhamwy was born in Homs (Syria) in 1982, and is currently living in Belgium.
He obtained his bachelor degree in 2007 as an executive musician at the Damascus Higher Music Institute at Evgueny Loguenov. His music has already been performed by various orchestras, including the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the National Syrian Arabic Orchestra and others. He has a rich experience as an orchestralist at the Syrian National Orchestra, the Expat Philharmonic Orchestra (EPO), as well as Olla Vogala, Ghent Folk Violin Project and Damast Duo. He directed various music groups for Arabic and chamber music, including the Solhi Alwadi String Quartet, Sham String Trio, Homs String Sextet and others.
Before the war in Syria, he taught violin and chamber music at Albaath University in Homs and at Solhi Alwadi Music School in Damascus.
